Kolkata Metro wants Vidya’s push scene to be withdrawn from Kahaani..

Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani runs into a controversy with the Kolkata Metro Railway authorities. They are objecting to a scene in the upcoming film where the actress is shown as being pushed perilously before a speeding train.
Metro spokesperson Protyush Ghosh told PTI that the Metro authorities had asked producers of the film to remove the particular clip from their trailers as well as from the film, which releases next Friday. “We had a meeting with the director recently where he told us that there is nothing objectionable in the film at all. He will submit us a video of the complete scene in a day or two after which we will take the final decision,” he said.
The film’s trailer shows a pregnant Vidya waiting on the platform to board a train at the Kalighat station. As soon as the train arrives, she is dangerously pushed onto the tracks by a man standing close to her.
The shot was part of a dream sequence and had been shot using CGI (computer-generated imagery) technique.
The Metro authorities had allowed the film unit to shoot for four days last year at the busy Tollygunj and Kalighat stations, where the controversial scene was filmed.
There has been around 234 suicide attempts since the Kolkata Metro commenced operations from 1984.
“We are opposed to the scene as we are very concerned about the rate of suicides on the Metro tracks. We know how people get ideas for committing suicide and for other criminal activities,” Kolkata Metro’s general manager PB Murti said.
Kahaani has the 34-year-old actress play a pregnant woman who comes to Kolkata from London in search of her husband. With nothing to rely on except fragments from her memories about him, it is the story of a seven-months pregnant woman’s relentless struggle in an unknown city.

There are many categories where members of the film fraternity are honoured for their achievement. Technicians as well as artists get rewarded for work. Some of the categories and their possible nominations are
  • Best Playback Singers(Male/Female)
Many melodious tracks were sung in 2012. Who can forget the Khwaabon ke Parindey from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara sung by Mohit Chauhan, Alyssa Mendonca or the peppy song Ooh la la sung by legendary Bappi da? Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay combined to give us the entertaining Senorita while Shankar Mahadevan gave us the wonderfully romantic Dildaara from Ra.one. Mohit Chauhan and Suzanne D’Mello combined to give us Tum Ho, a beautiful romantic track from Rockstar. It looks likely that Mohit may snatch the award in the male category. Shreya Ghoshal is the likely candidate in the female category with her song Teri Meri Prem Kahani from Bodyguard.
  • Best Music Director
Vishal-Shekhar stole the show with movies Ra.one and The Dirty Picture, while Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy gave beautiful music rendition in Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. Himesh Reshammiya gave hummable tunes in Bodyguard, while the ever reliable Pritam composed the tracks of Ready and Desi Boyz. A R Rehman gave the modious music of Rockstar. Ram Sampat is also in contention to get a look in for the ever so popular Delhi Belly Soundtrack.
  • Best Lyricist
Shabbir Ahmed looks a strong favourite in this category with his lyrics for Bodyguard. Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with usual authority and ease, while Rajat Arora may get a look in for his Ooh la la lyrics. Irshad Kamil has worked really hard to pen some melodious words in Rockstar, while Amitabh Bhattacharya gave the lyrics of unconventional yet entertaining Delhi Belly. The fight will be down to the wire in this category.
  • Best debut (Male/Female)
Nargis Fakhri was appreciated for her role in Rockstar while Parineeti Chopra, cousin of Priyanka Chopra made a decent debut with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Sarah Jane Dias made her much anticipated debut with Abhishek Bachchan in Game, while Myra Karn did get accolades for her role in No one killed Jessica. Kajal Aggarwal also made a good debut with Singham.
In the male category, Rana Daggubatti made a powerful debut with Dum Maaro Dum and was romantically linked to his co-star Bipasha Basu. Shiv Pandit made an effortless transition from TV to silver screen with Shaitaan. Vidyut Jamwal meanwhile stole the show with his negative yet interesting performance in Force with John Abraham.
  • Best Supporting role (Actor/Actress)
Paresh Rawal did a fabulous job in the movie Ready as Salman Khan’s confused namesake Uncle. Rani Mukherjee stole the show in the female category in No One Killed Jessica. Farhan Akhtar did a splendid job as the funny yet caring friend in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara while Prakash Raj was the pick of the lot with his astounding negative role in Singham.
  • Best Actor/actress
Shahrukh Khan gave a hit in the form of Ra.one, but it was Salman Khan who stole the show with his performances in 2011. Bodyguard and Ready, both his releases did not have a strong story line, but sailed at the box office due to the sheer performances of the star. He looks the likely winner in this category. Shahid Kapoor did ripple with his role in Mausam while Ajay Devgn made a strong impact as Baajirao Singham in Singham.
Kareena Kapoor put on a good show as Divya in Bodyguard while Asin played Sanjana really well in Ready. But it was Vidya Balan who may bag the black lady with her performance in The Dirty Pictures. She was much appreciated by critics and audience alike for her role of Silk in the movie.
  • Best Director
Milan Luthria made the much appreciate The Dirty Picture, while Rohit Shetty did the action film Singham. Anubhav Sinha may also get in a look in for Ra.One here, along with Anees Bazmee for Ready. Zoya Akhtar directed the splendid movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, while Abhinay Deo the son of legendary Marathi actor-actress Ramesh and Seema Deo gave a hit in the form of Delhi Belly.
  • Best Film
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara along with Bodyguard and Ready are sure shot candidates in this category. Ra.One may also get a look in with The Dirty Picture. Singham was also a well made movie along with Delhi Belly, so there may be a chance for both these movies to stake their claim on the shining black lady too. Also with the recent strides that Don 2 has made there is no doubt about the fact that it is surely one of the dark horses in the race for the best film category. The most coveted award will definitely go to the most deserving film of the lot.
The above nominations were based on the performances of the names in the year 2011. Official nominations are expected to release later this month. Besides the awards, many Dance numbers and other cameo performances by many film celebrities are expected to add glitter to the night. The much celebrated and coveted award in the Bollywood industry is sure to get the TRP racing.
